I am available for sessions located in the San Francisco Bay area and will photograph in your home or another mutually agreed upon location. For locations greater than 40 miles outside Mill Valley, CA, there is a $150 travel fee for areas inside the Bay Area. For areas outside the Bay Area, please call for travel quote.

I only work with newborns in their home, which means I bring with me everything to create custom works of art for you. I will present a special selection of hand knit hats, cocoons, slings, blankets and furs, bowls, baskets, backdrops and flooring (deep hardwood, distressed wood planks). A typical newborn posing session lasts between 4-6 hours when the baby is milk happy and deeply sleeping.  It is best to photograph a newborn within the first 7 days of life, the best days being day 3 and 4 of life.  

It is best to contact me during your pregnancy to discuss the details and so  I can add your due date to my calendar. I will keep some dates open for you the week before and of your due date. It's important that I be notified the day you give birth so that I can get you on the calendar for the few days after you bring the baby home.  

 

There are two requirements my newborn photography necessitates:
Ample, indirect natural light. As a natural light photographer, I require a space in your home near a large indirect, natural light source (sliding glass doors, windows) that receive ample amounts of indirect natural light, (no direct sunrays hitting the floor).  I like to begin the session early in the morning, typically between 8:30-9:30. It is important that I know how much indirect light you get in your home, so please include this information when you contact me.

A very sleepy baby. My style of newborn photography requires your newborn to be deeply asleep. I need to be able to move their limbs, tuck their toes underneath their chin, slip cocoons and hats on and off with ease, and this type of physical stimulation can rouse a sleeping baby if they do not have a very full belly. It is important that I have the ability to swiftly move from setup to setup without stopping to work to put the baby to sleep again, which can otherwise take up most of the day I am there.

 

newborn single baby session - $900. This fee includes our day together and your choice of your favorite 15 high resolution, professionally enhanced digital images delivered on DVD.  Within four weeks of our session I will create a password protected online gallery for you to view the best 20 fully processed images to review and choose from.  Your DVD will include your chosen favorite 15 high resolution digital images, as well as web format copies of each of the 15 images (web is not printable, but sharable). For multiple births, add $300 per additional newborn (multiples require pumped breast milk or formula for the sake of time ).

 

To include family portraiture with your newborn at the end of our session add an additional $250, and your total imagery goes from choosing your favorite 15 to choosing your favorite 18 images.

 

Additional high resolution images are available for purchase for $100 each.  There is a non-refundable deposit of $100 required at time of booking, and the fee for each session is due on day of shoot.

a year in pictures package - Think of choosing this package as hiring your own private family photographer to capture a year in the life of your newborn or child's youth.  This package includes 3 separate, full sessions.  The specific timing of each session is completely up to you, though I often default to my favorite milestones beginning with the newborn session, followed by the 6 month milestone (sitting up, emerging smiles, giggles, engagement, etc.) and ending at, on or around their 1st birthday. For the last two sessions, I will photograph for up to 4 hours in your home or another mutually agreed upon location, and can bring with me many props such as hats and textures, bowls and flooring, as well as backdrops for candid photography of baby with Mom and Dad. With each session you get to choose 20 of your favorite high resolution images to receive on DVD. After all three sessions are complete I will deliver to you all 60 images on one final complete DVD.  This package is limited to 5 people per shoot.
